this is a lucrative business specially if yours is the only one in the neighborhood. mejo sakit sa ulo lang  ;D barber's chair costs around 8k. Layug in Tondo is one of the popular manufacturers. if you're tight on the budget, you can purchase 2nd hand barber's chair muna.

hope this helps  :)

warrick: i kinda share the same sentiments with the sakit sa ulo na part. lalo na if you're just starting and new to the business.

Nung umpisa namrublema din ako sa barbero...inutangan pa ako (advance daw, pero di na pumasok) and since nag aral naman ako manggupit, ako na naging barbero. Pinagaralan ko paghawak ng cut throat razor (or straight razor). Yung piv ng barbersho ko nasa <http://anjaindigo.multiply.com> andun din ang sentiments ko as a barbero. Btw, kumuha ako ng chairs sa Binondo. But you can check Buy and Sell for posts on  2nd hand barbers' chairs

yeah, i have a salon too. hirap talaga mag maintain ng tauhan lalo na mga bakla.

i think same naman sa barber shop and salon ryt? the difference lang is we accept women. :)

the number one prob is yung palaging absent talaga...walang sympathy sa owner...

I think its in your hands how to manage your people.....
Us kc we dnt have discriminations, we treat each other as family.
From there they will realize how important is this job.
Try to reason with them. tell them what you feel. Diplomatic way.
They will look at you as  their father kc your the owner, and i think
mas mataas ang level of understanding mo kesa sa kanila.
If tlagang matigas p din ang ulo.....madami pang option dyn.

To Zhanne>> Meron nang shift sa trend ngayon: nagmerge na ang barbeshop at "salon" as far as services are concerned. In my barbershop, I DO accept female clients especially those who want short haircuts. pero yung ibang long hair, carry rin :-)

to barber shop/salon owners: how to do handle delinquent employees? ako kase i think i've tried everything. from bonuses and incentives, to punishment and suspension. i've tried reasoning with them and treating them like family, done the pep talk, tackled every single problem from work to family, pero seems like i still haven't found the perfect cure. is there such thing or talagang ganito lang sa business na ito?

i've even tried free board and lodging, salary and commissions, benefits, trainings.. name it i've done it. pero ganon pa din, parating late, parating absent... haynaku

buti na lang i'm earning from this business. pero napapaisip din ako, is the sakit the ulo worth it? sa bagay wala namang business na walang sakit ng ulo  ;D

While wala akong experience sa  tulad ng sistema mo na maghire with all these benefits..methinks..yung ibang owners they continuously take in traninees...para kung may aalis man, may kapalit agad...lahat mala casual employees ang status. malalakas kase loob kase feeling nila mahirap makakuha ng kapalit.
