WATCH: Religious Store Catholic Trade Combines Faith With Commerce

The 93-year-old store is the go-to place for Catholics looking for all types of religious items
By Entrepreneur Staff |

For almost 100 years, Catholic Trade Manila has been selling almost every type of religious merchandise to the faithful. The store in Tayuman, which was founded by the Society of the Divine Word (SVD), a Catholic missionary congregation, offers everything from crucifixes, chalices and religious frames to bigger items like giant crucifxes and church bells.

Its general manager, Fr. Carlos Maria De Guzman Jr., who is also an SVD missionary, believes earning a profit isn't as important as serving the needs of religious folk, many of whom travel to the store from the provinces and even abroad. Still, the store has been doing pretty well as a business, posting a healthy revenue of Php37.3 million in 2015.

“This business is built on mercy and compassion. And I think all businesses should do the same.”
