Franchising

Franchise concept allows you to pick and mix

The growing number of different food carts all around the metro has inspired Jessica Meneses to design a business concept that will allow franchisees to choose and operate more than one food cart with just a single investment. The food enthusiast introduced Grow Your Own Business Foodcart, or GYOB, in 2009 to offer entrepreneurs packages that range from P69,888 to P148,888.

“We want to give Filipinos a chance to enter the franchising industry in the easiest way possible,” says Meneses. “More variety of food choices means more customers to attract that will eventually lead to a more established profit.”

GYOB initially had only four food cart offerings—Noodle King, Burger Joint, Takoyaking and Siomai Stop. But since the idea became such a huge hit among interested parties, Meneses began incorporating more and more food cart choices until it grew to 12 brands, listed among four concept packages to date. Recently included in GYOB’s lineup are Kwek-kwelicious, Mr. Scramble, Chillax, Oh My Banana!, Shawarma Town, Waffle Corner, Capt. Sisig and Tapsi Stop.

The expansion hopes to promote GYOB not only to the franchising industry, but as well as to marketing and financing institutions in the country. Meneses says, “We develop top-quality products that ensure market patronage. Moreover, our franchises cover the necessary items for operation like the mobile carts, utensils and training manuals.”

This is exactly one of the main reasons why human resources graduate Rebecca Lim signed up for a GYOB package immediately after attending a food expo in SMX Convention Center. She says, “I did not experience any difficulty with GYOB. In fact, the staff members are very accommodating in explaining how the food-cart system works in this setting.” Lim is now a proud owner of a Tapsi Stop outlet and a Burger Joint kiosk.
