ay, Stoic is known as the "nurturing" brand for all 16 labels it has taken under its wing. More importantly, it serves as the physical store for all these online shops.

The crossover from the virtual world to the real world was not at all that easy for these two University of the Philippines graduates. Their first few customers were only their clients online and a few of their relatives. The next 10 months, however, immediately turned to their favor and for only over a year, their initial investment of almost P400,000 was regained and more.

Guzman and Inolino chose to keep Stoic as the overall name of the store to give that calm, dreamy impression on their products. Guzman explains: "Individually, our designers are very different. There are those who are very funky, edgy and loud, but we also have dark, relaxed and formal items. What brings everyone together in this store is the desire to quietly disturb the fashion scene. Thus, Stoic."

Guzman, a former Miss Earth contender, adds that the reputation earned by Cubao Expo as the artistic hub of the metro affirms the authenticity and quirkiness of their items.

Now that Stoic is doing exceptionally well with their physical store, Guzman declares that they will continue to maintain their online store. She says that their presence online has greatly encouraged buyers to visit them in Cubao. At the other end of the spectrum, Guzman shares that there are clients who can only reach Stoic in Multiply, especially buyers from the Visayas and Mindanao regions.

"Our sales in Multiply and in Cubao are almost always complementing. If a buyer wants to see variations of a certain clothing, they visit us here. And they never go on their own; they always have company with them."

They are also looking into expansion in malls and possibly, entertaining customers from abroad. With all these plans overhead, Guzman is quick to add, "Whatever direction Stoic goes to, we will make sure to bring all our labels with us."
