The biggest and most awaited food event of the year is back. The 6th Manila Foods and Beverages Expo (MAFBEX) is going “Back to Basics” at the World Trade Center on June 13 to 17 from 10 am to 8 pm.

Professionals and enthusiasts from the food and beverage industry will be treated to a five-day expo with an impressive line-up of activities. Witness culinary experts battle it out in a cook-off, learn from seminars handled by the industry veterns, and sample international cuisine from renowned local and foreign chefs.

The Philippines is a country with a great love for food and unlimited potential for the businesses that cater to the industry. MAFBEX is exclusively dedicated to suppliers, distributors, manufacturers and retailers of food and beverage products and equipment that cater to the food service and hospitality industries.

As organic food becomes an important part of the movement for a healthier national lifestyle, MAFBEX’s exhibitors take up the challenge a better and wider selection of organic choices. Across the world, there has been an increase in the demand for healthy foods and products with simple ingredients for a healthier lifestyle. 

Dietitians confirm that there is a growing consumer preference for food products that are more “natural” and features raw ingredients that are easily understood and are less processed. There is also a higher demand for products which contain fewer mystery components and additives such as artificial flavors and colors. With this, the theme for this year’s MAFBEX is “Back to Basics”.

This year also features the biggest international pavilion with different countries offering ethnic delicacies and ingredients from all over the world, blending together in a melting pot of exotic flavors made available in the show. Throughout the duration of the event, professors and culinary experts from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde will be covering topics ranging from food styling, corporate image enhancement, cooking for VIPs, to recent advances in food preservation, catering, and many more. There will also be demonstrations of some products that may prove useful in certain food-related businesses.

Aside from the seminars wherein internationally- renowned experts would be tackling the latest entrepreneurial tips and techniques as well as up-to-date industry breakthroughs, competitions will also be held during the five-day event. Expo goers will be able to witness how fun the food and service and hospitality industry can be as a promising new generation exhibits their skills in competitions such as the Benildean Flair Factor, Flair Cup 2012, Table Set-ups, Mocktail Punch, Cake Decorating, Ice Carving, and many more.

Another highlight for this year is the Food Caterers Association of the Philippines (FCAP) Pavilion. Visitors get to rub elbows with country’s top caterers as they showcase their best healthy recipes and try out techniques on plating, food preparation, and styling. Part of the show's proceeds will also be donated to the ABS-CBN Foundation.
