Free entrepreneurship classes for February

The classes will cover topics such as product trends and color forecast for gifts and décor.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) through the Bureau of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise Development (BMSMED) offers free entrepreneurship sessions for new and existing businesses this month.

BMSMED Director Rhodora M. Leaño said the selected topics will provide useful information for budding entrepreneurs and existing businesses to improve their decision-making capabilities for them to have higher productivity and profitability.

These sessions will cover topics such as product trends and color forecast for gifts and décor and homestyle for 2013 to 2014 (February 5), finance management (February 8); basics of good manufacturing practices (GMP), sanitary standard operating procedures (SSOP) and hazard analysis and critical control points (HACCP) (February 12); pricing and costing and marketing and selling techniques (February 15); participating in trade fairs and productivity improvement through 5S  or the name of a workplace organization method that uses a list of five Japanese words: seiri, seiton, seiso, seiketsu, and shitsuke (February 19); understanding trademarks, patents, and copyrights  and empowering Filipino entrepreneurs through e-commerce (February 22); and food cart business opportunities (February 26).


These sessions will be conducted by DTI through the DTI-National Capital Region, Bureau of Export Trade Promotion (BETP), Philippine Development and Design Center of the Philippines (PDDCP), Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM), Center for Industrial Competitiveness (CIC) and Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL). The University of the Philippines-Institute for Small Scale Industries (UP-ISSI), Shopinas and Ultima Entrepinoy have also extended their support for these short seminars.
