How athletes make ideal endorsers for life insurance companies

Over the weekend, financial giant, Sun Life Philippines rolled out a new TV commercial which introduced its new endorsers, Philippine national football team players Anton and Armand del Rosario.

One would think that the two are quite an odd pair to endorse an insurance company, right?

It is rather the contrary. Athletes, like the Azkals, are not only popular that’s why they make good endorsers to promote any product but they are also a perfect fit for an insurance company like Sun Life Philippines. Why is this  so?

Athletes have a shorter career span compared to other professions. While they earn big bucks during the height of their careers, they are more exposed to high risk incidents like injury and accidents.

Take the story of the Armand del Rosario, the older of the two del Rosario brothers. Two years ago, he was one of the players of the country’s football team, the Philippine Azkals. But a car accident left him with permanent tendon injuries that he can no longer play football for the rest of his life.

It was a good thing that he was insured prior to his injury. “As an athlete, we don’t know what the future holds for us. It is best that we are always prepared for whatever may come our way, make sure that our families will be well taken cared of,” says Armand.

Themed “Experience Sun Life,”  the company’s new TVC highlights the role played by the country\\\'s first and longest standing life insurer in making Filipinos feel good about their lives and more confident about the future.

"The stories we feature are all real testimonials gathered from those who have actual experiences in dealing with Sun Life. What we found out is that people who deal with us have so many wonderful things to say about our company. With this campaign, we invite everyone to get to know us and experience Sun Life for themselves too," says Sun Life Philippines President and CEO Riza Mantaring,.

By showcasing inspiring testimonials of real people, the company aims to make Sun Life a partner of choice when others decide to take that journey towards financial security.  Other endorsers for Sun Life includes celebrities Piolo Pascual and Pia Magalona, and civic leader Bam Aquino.
