ICTSI acquires reefer facility in Mindanao

ICTSI subsidiary strengthens operations in Mindanao with reefer facility in the Port of Davao

The country’s largest port operator, International Container Terminal Services, Inc. continues to strengthen its operations in the country, after it successfully expanded its operations in ports across the globe.

ICTSI subsidiary, Davao Integrated Ports and Stevedoring Services Corp., recently took over operations of a new reefer facility at the Sasa Wharf, International Port of Davao in Davao City. [Read about the top export products of the Port of Davao here]

The reefer facility, installed by the Philippine Ports Authority, is expected to boost the operations of the growing fruit trade in the Port of Davao, the main transit point for the export of Philippine bananas.  The Philippines is the world’s third largest importer of bananas, most of which are produced and harvested in the Davao Region. “ The Port of Davao needs these new reefers because of the thriving banana trade in Mindanao.” Manuel de Jesus, ICTSI vice president for business development, said.

Located at the Sasa Wharf in the Port of Davao, the reefer facility covers an area of 270 square meters, and can handle a total of 144 reefer containers. [Read about the export products of the Port of Cebu here]
