Before "sustainable" and "eco-friendly" became hip bywords, Ritual was already walking the talk. This general store, which sells a diverse range of Philippine-made (and grown) products that are organic, eco-friendly, sustainable, fairtrade, or all of the above.
Founded way back in 2010, Ritual was one of the first eco-lifestyle stores to open in the country, albeit with a clean, pared-down, and minimalist vibe. They opened their first store in Makati's The Collective along Malugay Street for a few years, and then reopened at Languages Internationale at Arnaiz Avenue.
Aside from selling pantry staples such as all types of local rice (which are sold in canisters with scoops, meaning you have to bring your own supot), salt, cacao, and local coffee from small-scale farmers, the store also peddles home care items like borax, all-natural deodorizers, and liquid soaps that are decanted into repurposed gin bottles.
The shop encourages customers to bring their own tote bags and containers, and started selling stainless steel straws years before the current (and hopefully permanent) trend. Here are some of the home care products you can purchase at Ritual:
One of their bestsellers is the Lavender Liquid Soap decanted in a classic, repurposed gin bottle, P230
From their "Green Cleaning" category is this wonderful-smelling Citronella Enzyme Deodorizer, P135
You can also use these adorable Woven Pandan Gift Toppers as native decor, P35 each
An all-natural Insect Repellant uses VCO mixed with citronella oil, P225 (P180 sale price)
Ritual is open Tuesday to Saturday, 11am to 8pm, and is located at 2/F Languages Internationale Bldg., Arnaiz Ave., Makati City; follow them on their Facebook page
