Turning fandom into a profitable business

Being an active alumni member, it comes as no surprise that Manglicmot chose to create shirts for her alma mater

For the month of October, Entrepreneur.com.ph will be featuring businesses that saw the school spirit as a business opportunity. And what venue is there for the school spirit to shine than the annual University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) meet?

From being a business partner, Greeca Tiffany Manglicmot decided that she wanted a business of her own. A business that would not only be profitable, but also fuel the pride she has for her school.

“My friend Marc Pangilinan of DLSU GreenFusion first invited me to invest on their products and after getting my share from the profit, he suggested that I should have my own business. Since I am also an avid UAAP fan and someone who is close to the athletes, I accepted his offer,” said Greeca.

Finding the perfect designs did not come as easy as Greeca thought it would. “We had to research on the different designs already released by the other entrepreneurs and we also checked what catches the attention of the buyers in choosing a school shirt,” said Greeca.

At first, most of the design inputs were from her friend, Marc, as she had to juggle her business with a full-time job. “But eventually I also had the chance to contribute which also had the inputs of my friends and some athletes,” said Greeca.

Being one of the active alumni of UST, it comes as no surprise that Greeca chose to create shirts for her alma mater.

"I know that when other Thomasians and Non-Thomasians see our designs they would also want to wear our shirts during campus events and UAAP games to show their support for UST,” said Greeca.
