Lines of food carts along food court sections of most malls will never be complete without stalls selling fried noodles in sight. However, most dim sum lovers and health-conscious noodle enthusiasts often complain about the typical greasiness of such noodles.

Being innovative, Miguelitos International Corporation has stepped out of the norm to bring back the basic method of preparing fried noodles. Jian Kang Noodles, or ‘healthy noodles,’ is one of the pioneers in the local market in using steam when cooking its noodles. Aside from its way of food preparation, its hygienic pump-type sauce dispensers also make this food cart stand out.

Customers can buy fried noodles topped with pork siomai, shrimp siomai, crab balls, or quail eggs for just around P20 to P55. The food cart also offers popular Asian thirst-quenchers like iced tea and black gulaman for as low as P5 per cup. Siomai and lumpiang shanghai can be bought for just P20 per serving.

Franchising opportunity

Entrepreneurs may take advantage of the rising interest for healthy fried noodles in the market. Jian Kang Noodles is available for franchising. An initial investment of around P250,000 is required for anyone to buy its franchise, with a three-year contract (renewable). The company also offers other franchising options for as low as P200,000.

Its franchise package includes the cart (complete with signage and equipment) and initial supplies for two days. The company will also be in charge of the store launch and will provide necessary marketing collaterals like flyers, appearance of its official mascot, and mounting of a pastoral dedication event (inauguration). Miguelitos International also shoulders costs for recruitment, training, and uniforms of the staff.

Promising investment

Franchisees can possibly generate profits of up to P32,000 per month. At this rate, there can be a logical potential to attain return on investment (ROI) within just eight months.

Miguelitos International , which was established in 2002 and now with more than 500 food carts nationwide, also offers franchises for stalls selling soft ice cream, takoyaki, and churros. The company promises to continue innovating for the development of new products so it can cater to many other possible market segments.
