Every year, in time for the Chinese New Year, Hong Kong-based brokerage firm CLSA comes up with its Feng Shui Index, a lighthearted set of predictions for the territory's markets.
Besides providing witty guidelines for those born under the different Chinese zodiac signs on how to increase their wealth, CLSA also comes up with predictions for the Hang Seng, the Hong Kong stock market index, based on its Chinese zodiac sign (Earth Rooster).
Taking off from this idea, we looked into the incorporation dates of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) and the PSE Index's component stocks to determine their Chinese zodiac signs.
The infographic above classifies the local index stocks, including the PSE itself, according to their Chinese zodiac signs. It also presents excerpts from CLSA Feng Shui Index's guidelines on how those born under the different Chinese zodiac signs can increase their lot in the year of the rooster.
As CLSA itself warns, readers shouldn't take these predictions too seriously. It said: "CLSA’s Feng Shui Index is a tongue-in-cheek play on the influences of the Chinese Zodiac on the Hang Seng and is purely for entertainment purposes. As always, we suggest readers might do better following our analysts’ regular updates throughout the year."
