Fast-food tycoon Tony Tan Caktiong is the seventh Grand MVP Bossing, the highest distinction in PLDT’s annual awards for outstanding entrepreneurs and business owners. The Jollibee Foods chairman was recognized for his inspiring entrepreneurial journey as well as the company’s brand awareness, use of technology, and corporate social responsibility.
Jollibee operates the largest network of restaurants in the country comprising of six brands and 2,500 outlets, with an additional five brands and 700 stores abroad. The company reported revenues of Php82 billion for the first nine months of 2016, a 13% increase from the same period in 2015.
Since 2009, PLDT’s MVP Bossing Awards has been bestowed upon business owners whose “inspiring stories motivate Filipinos to make their dreams a reality and make it big in business,” according to the awards organizers.
Aside from Tan Caktiong, seven other entrepreneurs were recognized as MVP Bossings this year during the awards ceremonies held last November 23 at the Shangri-La at the Fort. Other awardees include Edgar “Injap” Sia II, who runs community mall developer DoubleDragon Properties with Tan Caktiong.
