61st Manila FAME targets global expansion

A roster of local and international trade players gather to promote Philippine products to the world market.

manila_fame.jpgManila FAME, as it's known to be the country's premier trade platform for exports and design, has been consistent in their mission to provide opportunities for small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs) to showcase their products in the world market. For this year, the Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) centered their focus to the expansion of Philippine products to the global market. CITEM Executive Director Rosvi Gaetos sees the opening up of world markets and the imminent rise in global consumption in key export markets as strong indicators in international trade expansion.

Part of being true to its mission, this year's Manila FAME stepped up by incorporating culture, technology and innovation in its exhibits. It features Philippine-made furniture and home furnishings, holiday gifts, décor, and fashion accessories for the global market. Among the other highlights are the Design Philippines, which features arts and designs that are geared toward technological and creative revolution, Manila Wear which showcases the collection of fashion designers who were selected for their unique designs, Light and Shadow wherein guests get a glimpse into the creative philosophies and sensibilities of the country's top design talents, products from One Town, One Product (OTOP) which promotes entrepreneurship and job creation in the countryside, and KATHA Awards which is considered to be the most prestigious in the Philippine design scene, to give credits to Filipino craftsmanship and artisanship.
