CSW Summit Manila: The country’s first ever crowdfunding conference

The world of business is expanding and is getting more competitive by the day. As the Internet and the social media take the front lines in networking possibilities, modern businesses now face the challenge of getting through vast online connections. Lack of seed capital is still the main setback for most innovative startups. Fortunately, crowdfunding has finally found its way to local shores.

Last March 18, 2015, crowdfunding made another milestone in the country when the first ever CSW Summit Manila (Philippine Crowdfunding Conference 2015) was held at Enderun Colleges in Taguig City. With over 150 entrepreneurs, philanthropists, and crowdfunding supporters from all over the world in attendance, the event was truly an enlightening experience for those wanting to know more about crowdfunding and the different ways to tap it.

Speakers included Sen. Bam Aquino (on Entrepreneurship for Inclusive Growth), Epi Ludvik Nekaj (Founder, Crowdsourcing Week), Chay Hofilena (Investigative Head Desk, Rappler), Larry Gamboa (Bestselling Author, Think Rich Pinoy), and Filipino crowdfunding pioneer Patch Dulay, founder of The Spark Project–a locally run crowdfunding site that offers innovative Filipinos the opportunity to fund their promising start-ups and ideas.

Individuals behind successful crowdfunded startups (First Harvest, Kawil Tours, Jeepneed, ZIG, Guache, AV Manila, eBayanihan) and representatives from various crowdfunding websites (Artisteconnect, Gift Launcher, ProTees) came to share their knowledge and experience with crowdfunding. Other speakers, including Atty. Francis Lim, also came to provide insights on various aspects of crowdfunding.
