Appointed

After a week since their oath, it looks President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo are keeping true to their promise of a united government after the latter has accepted the former’s invitation to be the new Housing czar.

Mas mapaglilingkuran natin ang ating mga kababayang walang tahanan at maipagpapatuloy natin ang pangakong itulak ang kaunlaran at kaginhawaan para sa ating mga kapus palad na kababayan” Robredo said in a statement immediately after Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II shared the news in a press conference on Thursday, July 7.

The Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) was also headed by Robredo’s predecessors, Jejomar Binay and Noli de Castro who served during the Aquino and Arroyo administrations respectively.

According to Lawphil.net, HUDDC is an agency "under the immediate control and supervision of the President of the Philippines and is charged with the main function of coordinating the activities of the government housing agencies to ensure the accomplishment of the National Shelter Program."

Aguirre said Robredo will join the next Cabinet meeting on Monday, July 11.

To serve more passengers, the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1 will extend its operating hours for a month, Light Rail Manila Corporation (LRMC) said on Thursday in a statement.

The oldest elevated railway system in the country will extend its services for an hour as northbound trains will leave Baclaran terminal at 9:40 pm, 9:50 pm, and 10 pm while southbound trains will leave Roosevelt terminal at 10:10 pm and 10:15 pm.
