The biggest retail conference in the Philippines is happening on August 9 and 10 at the SMX Convention Center at the Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
Organized by the Philippine Retailers Association (PRA), the two-day National Retail Conference and Stores Asia Expo (NRCE) 2018 is expected to draw in more than 3,000 participants from the retail industry. NRCE 2018 is an annual event now on its 25th year.
This year’s theme is “Reinventing Retail,” which aims to address the challenges faced by brick-and-mortar stores brought about by the rising digitization of businesses.
“It is now time for retailers to step up the ante in their business. Keep up with the pace of the industry and create strategies to meet the current consumer demands, as well as achieve a perennial advantage in an increasingly demanding industry,” the PRA said in a statement.
Leading this year’s conference speakers are Wijnand Jongen, CEO of Dutch e-commerce association Thuiswinkel.org, and Massimo Volpe, chairman of the Forum for International Retail Association Executives and general manager of Retail Institute Italy. They are the keynote speakers for the first and second days, respectively.
There will also be breakout sessions on the supermarket track (Day 1) and digital transformation track (Day 2). The first day will discuss trends in consumer, retail, management and innovations in the field, while the second day will focus on topics such as social media, analytics, design thinking and business transformation.
Other confirmed plenary speakers for Day 1 are Vic Tria, first vice president and head of PLDT Alpha, PLDT Enterprise; Jocelyn Cheung, senior analyst from Euromonitor International (Singapore); and Jane Ng, executive director of Kantar Millward Brown (Philippines).
Plenary speakers for Day 2 include Santanu Dutt, head of solutions and architecture of Amazon Web Services (Philippines and Malaysia); Robert Hayes, senor vice president of TaskUs (Southeast Asia); Juan De Lascurain, CEO of Dream Big World (Spain); Nika Diwa, consultant and stylist of Business Works; and Xin-Yi Wong, sustainability manager of H&M (Singapore).
