Touted as the largest tech startup gathering in Southeast Asia, the 2018 Techtonic Summit is happening on June 22-23 at the SMX Hall 4 at the Mall of Asia in Pasay City. This year’s theme is a timely one—“Disrupting Southeast Asia”—and is expected to draw 10,000 attendees, 200 startups and 100 investors.
A highlight of the two-day conference is the Ring of Fire Pitching Competition where 20 startups and finalists will vie for the $10,000 prize, exclusive mentorship and an opportunity to be exposed to top technologies and market opportunities in Southeast Asia.
In addition, the summit offers a full program over two-days with four keynote presentations, three panel discussions, two fireside chats and two debates. The debates focus on two of the hottest topics in the startup community today: the role of blockchains and whether startups should focus on generating revenues or raising funds.
The following are five top reasons to attend the 2018 Techtonic Summit:
1. Learn from the region’s most ardent advocates and players in the startup scene
Around 40 personalities across various industries from local government to some of the region’s biggest startups were invited to speak at the event. They include Senators Loren Legarda and Paolo Benigno Aquino IV and Facebook Philippines’ Jeffrey Paine and Carousell’s Marcus Tan, to either serve as keynote presenters or participate in panel discussions.
2. Be enlightened by the insightful talks
One of the most exciting parts of the Techtonic Summit are the debates on some of the business world’s most heated topics with panels full of established entrepreneurs. For this year, the summit is preparing to debates on two topics: blockchain’s revolutionary technology and the importance of fundraising and revenue generation for startups. Expect passionate discussions and feisty rebuttals from some of the startup scene’s best minds.
3. Be inspired with the Ring of Fire contestants
The 20 Philippine-based startups competing at the Ring of Fire Competition are all looking at eventually expanding in Southeast Asia. If you are an aspiring entrepreneur or someone with a more traditional business model, these startups can inspire you to become more creative and courageous in doing business especially with their pitches.
4. Build relationships
There is no better place to do a 15-second elevator pitch or to simply get to know that startup founder you are looking to doing business with than in a startup conference. The organizers of Techtonic Summit 2018 are expecting around 10,000 attendees. With that number, participants are sure to walk home with contacts that can help their business grow.
5. Techtonic Summit is free
