On its 30th anniversary, Century Properties continues to reach for extraordinary heights in the real estate arena. Anchored on its mission to provide its clients with great properties of life-enhancing value while adapting sustainable practices, the company never stops striving for the latest advancements in the industry, paving its way to becoming the Philippines’ foremost developer of innovative, well-designed, and sustainable residential and commercial developments.
Here, the company traces its remarkable journey, from its humble beginnings up to its noteworthy standing of present.
From People Power to Power Player
All it took was passion, courage and roughly six employees to start Century Properties, which is known today as one of the most prestigious real estate developers in the Philippines.
Jose E.B. Antonio, then a promising businessman, boldly established Century Properties just six days before the 1986 People Power Revolution. While the country’s economy was in a slump, the founder-entrepreneur remained positive.
“When people start saying ‘be conservative’ that’s when you need to be bullish,” he said.
Armed with a plan and vision for the future, Antonio and his team of five young professionals established their foothold in the real estate industry. As the economic landscape turned favorable, he forged ahead with more courage and confidence, molding the company into a true game-changer in the landscape of Philippine property history.
Looking to the Future
As the country slowly regained its economic and political stability, Century Properties focused on churning out more projects during its formative years.
In the early 2000s, Century established itself as a major player by building Essensa East Forbes, considered until today as one of the best luxury residential condominiums in the entire country. Designed by Pei, Cobb, Freed and Partners, the architectural firm founded by the legendary I.M. Pei, the Pritzker Prize-winning architect who redesigned the Louvre Museum in Paris, Essensa was the beginning of Century’s foray into distinguished, hyper-luxury architecture.
Seeing things “a century ahead”, has become a compass for the company in its pursuit of building world-class developments. Bonifacio Global City, where Essensa is located, is now one of the Philippines’ most dynamic urban centers, bustling with life and activity.
Global Partnerships for World-Class Developments
Pushing the envelope even further, Century Properties forged more partnerships with global brands and international names. The company teamed up with Paris Hilton for the beach club of Azure Urban Resort Residences, Giorgio Armani's Armani/Casa for the interiors of Century Spire, Italian design house MissoniHome for the interiors of Acqua Livingstone at Acqua Private Residences, and Versace Home for the interiors of The Milano Residences.
These partnerships have produced some of the Philippines’ most iconic residential and commercial developments, upholding Century Properties' reputation as a leading purveyor of high-end real estate.
Onward and Upward
Today, never-before-seen projects by Century Properties stand in several parts of Metro Manila. Apart from the Azure Urban Resort Residences in Parañaque City, the Acqua Private Residences in Mandaluyong City, and The Residences at Commonwealth in Quezon City, the crown jewel of the company's stellar portfolio would be Century City, a 3.4-hectare mixed-use development north of the Makati Central Business District which houses the Century City Mall, The Knightsbridge Residences, The Milano Residences, Gramercy Residences, Trump Tower, and the Centuria Medical Makati, as well as the soon-to-rise Century Spire Offices and Forbes Media Tower. These uniquely designed, luxurious projects stand out from similar developments around Metro Manila, redefining the Metro's cityscape.
With one man’s perseverance and foresight, Century Properties reaches for the extraordinary by creating developments that transform the Philippines into a world-class destination.
