There are rare, beautiful moments when someone truly inspires you and you think to yourself, "Ok, she's the epitome of #careergoals." But every successful woman out there knows *the struggle*, and even people who are at the top of their game experience it. Ahead is a list of daily struggles most people go through in their careers.
1. Not knowing everything
Learning is a continuous process, and if you want to keep being good at what you do, the first thing you need to know is that you'll never have all the answers. Even those who've been in your chosen industry don't have all the answers. So if you can't answer something yourself, don't hesitate to ask someone who might be able to help you.
2. Making Mistakes
To err is human—but making a mistake at work is still a hard pill to swallow, especially if the stakes are high. What you can take comfort in is that you're not the first person to drop the ball, and as much as you wish it, this probably won't be the last time you make a mistake. Move on, let go of the need to be perfect, take risks, and excel!
3. Accepting feedback
Feedback will be given whether you want it or not. It's just part of the job. Your performance will be reviewed, and it won't do you any good to be stubborn about what your boss and colleagues need from you in the office. Don't let pride get in the way of how great you can become. Demonstrate your desire to do better.
4. Resisting the urge to complain
This one's pretty tough because it just comes so easily. Complaining is one of the quickest ways to let out your frustrations, but it's also the least productive way to deal with whatever is stressing you out. Rarely do solutions come from complaining about a task you were assigned or an officemate who's annoying you. Stop wasting time and just get it done.
5. Doing more than the bare minimum
If you're not new to the workforce, then you already know that every job entails doing more than what was on the job description when you applied. And if you don't already know that, then let us tell you that your boss probably expects you to go above and beyond—it's how they know who the real leaders are. When you've finished your tasks early, find solutions to existing problems or ways to improve your current system.
6. Trusting your instincts
At the end of the day, you gotta go with your gut. If you're uncomfortable with a specific task, it'll affect your performance and lower your self-confidence. Be honest with yourself and with your coworkers about certain expectations. It's not an easy conversation to have, but transparency is key if you want to build trust at work.
