Files Go is an app that frees up space, finds files faster and more easily shares them with others
More and more people are using mobile for business purposes, other than using social media. For the employee or entrepreneur on-the-go, it’s just faster to respond to your boss’ email or client messages when you use your mobile phone.
However, phone storage remains a problem for a lot of people, even when accessing and viewing files on mobile is important in the day-to-day operation of business. Google’s answer to that is Files Go, a new app for freeing up space, finding files faster and easily sharing them with others.
Here are seven things you should know about this new app that can increase your productivity and can help you optimize the use of your mobile phone:
1. Free up space on your phone
You will get personalized suggestions on which files to delete—unused apps, large files, duplicate files, images or videos with low resolution, even memes you may have saved. These will be detected using Google’s latest Mobile Vision technology. During its testing phase, Files Go has helped users save up to 1GB of space in their first month of use.
2. Find files faster
You don’t need to navigate through a labyrinth of folders and sub-folders to find files or images you may want to delete, share or upload. Files Go has a smart filter that automatically organizes your images, videos, apps, documents and more.
3. Back up files to the cloud
Not keen on permanently deleting your files to free up some space? You may also store it in the cloud, such as your Google Drive. Files Go helps you select it from the Files Menu and back it up to your drive or any other cloud storage app.
4. Share files offline without using data
Before deleting files to free up space, you can also decide to share it with another friend or colleague. With Files Go, you can transfer files directly from your phone to a nearby friend’s phone for free. The best part is you can do it quickly (up to 125 Mbps) and you don’t even need to go online. Aside from that, file transfers are encrypted so you’re sure that these transfers are secure.
5. It’s light on your phone
Since the problem Files Go is addressing is the lack of storage on your phone, it’s also a given that they don’t take up much space. The Files Go app takes about 6MB of space only so it’s easy on your phone’s storage.
6. Use it without going online
You don’t need to be online or use data to perform core actions such as freeing up space and transferring files. You can do these offline so you also save mobile data.
7. Made available for many users
It works on all phones running on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and higher and it’s available globally in 80 languages. Files Go will also offered as a part of suite of apps on the upcoming Android Oreo (Go edition) phones scheduled for sale in early 2018.
Other smartphone makers such as Nokia Mobile, Panasonic, Micromax, Lava, Intex, Karbonn Mobiles and Xolo will also be offered Files Go as a pre-installed app on select 2018 models.
