Expert advice—perhaps even financing for your business—is now a mouse-click away thanks to the Brain Gain Network (http://www.BGN.org), a website connecting professionals and students keen on boosting the Philippines’ competitiveness abroad.
The website is owned and managed by Narra Venture Capital (http://www.narravc.com), a venture capital, fund management, and consulting firm focusing on investments in private hi-tech companies with potential for strong growth.
It features the largest database of Filipino and non-Filipino technical experts around the world—including Silicon Valley’s Dado Banatao, former Ohio University engineering dean Joe Cruz, and Tivoli software firm co-founder Peter Valdes—and stores data on members’ academic background, experience, skills, and where they may be reached, according to Marc Loinaz and Paco Sandejas, the electrical engineers who planned the project while completing their doctorates at Stanford University in 1992 and launched it last December. It even has a mentoring facility and forums where people may discuss the latest trends in various technologies.
BGN members may research for free, but the website plans to provide premium services for a fee soon. It invites Filipino scientists and engineers to register so they may be reached for projects needing their expertise.
